Jose Maria Gonzales is the new European Champion 100Km, his winning time 6:23:44 is also a new Spanish Record, the previous was on the name of Jorge Aubeso (6h26'). Silver in the mens individual race was surprisingly Dmitry Bula (BLR), a couple of weeks ago already winner of the "50km of Flanders" (2:59:43) and now second after a sprint of 20km ! Yannick Djouadi was a little bit faster than his teammate Pascal Fetizon, both from France.

By the women surprised Birgit Schonherr Helser (GER) everybody to come back from far behind. After first Cassiraghi (60-65km) and then Savoskina (+65km) left the course for different reasons the French team took the lead with 3 women in front of all the rest. In the last 7km the German runner overtook everybody to finish as the new European Champion in 7h58', also the second placed Laurence Fricotteaux  (GER) finished under 8h in front of Christine Lelan (Fra)

Now Fetionz and Djouadi, both FRA, running second
Fourth is Bula, 2’ behind the French duo
5th Tyazkorob who is running very strong
Jimenez (ESP) stay close behind Tyazkorob, only 25’ separates them, and that already for a couple of km’s
Izmailov is 7th, about 3’ in front of the suffering Marc Papanikitas (BEL)who just passed Visnyagov (RUS). But very close behind is the surprising Zabari (HUN) and Barcza who makes a come-back during the last 10K. Martinez (ESP) fell back but is running good again in 12 th position before another surprise the Finish runner Saavalaiinen.
The situation by the women remains the same: Cassiraghi 2’ ahead of Savoskina.
 

 
00:00 Monica Casiraghi leads the women race about 2' in front of Svetlana Savoskina. A group of 5 women (3 from France) are following a couple of minutes later..   
23:26 Gonzales is still running extremely strong... 3h07' at 50Km.  Ardemagni, who followed as second at 50km left the race 2km further due to stomac problems... Now, the Russians Vishnyagov and Izmaylov running together in second position, 6' behind the leader, two other spanish runners Firmin and Martinez are about 1' behind, followed by Fetizon, Djouadi, Bula, Tyazkorob and Zalybin. The Belgian Papanikitas is 11th.

The spanish runner Gonzales (winner of 100K of Madrid earlier this year) took the lead from the early beginning of the race. The Russian  Vishnyagov tried to follow in the first km's but drew back after 10K.  A cfirst chasing group was led by the Italian Ardemagni, toether with him Martinez and Jimenez (ESP) and the Russian Izmaylov and Zhalybin. One minute later an elite group with most of the other favourites like Bracza, Fetizon, Djouadi (FRA), Papanikitas (BEL), Spiridonov, Thyazkorob (RUS), Lindvai (SVK), Bula (BLR), Holovnytski (UKR) and Aivar (EST). In Handzame they passed the 30.7km in 1h53'40" (Gonzales), 2' later Ardemagni followed by the two Spanish runners, all three less than 1' in front of the elite group.
